Accessibility Statement

Our commitment
Happy Days exists to help disabled and chronically ill people travel with confidence, so accessibility isn't an add-on for us — it's the point of the product. We are working towards conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA. This statement is honest about where we currently fall short.
Known limitations
- • The site has not yet had a full manual or automated WCAG 2.2 AA audit — testing so far has been developer-led, covering keyboard navigation, colour contrast, semantic headings and focus indicators, but not a comprehensive audit against every success criterion.
- • The site has not been tested with real assistive technology users, including screen reader users, switch access users, or people with cognitive or learning disabilities.
- • Some property photographs are placeholder stock images during the pilot and are labelled as such in their alt text, rather than describing real visual content.
- • Form validation messages are shown visually and via ARIA live regions where implemented, but have not been tested across the full range of screen reader and browser combinations.
What we've built in
- • A skip-to-content link on every page
- • Visible focus indicators on all interactive elements
- • A base font size of ~18px, with a readable typeface (Atkinson Hyperlegible, designed for low-vision readability)
- • Reduced-motion support for users who prefer it
- • Semantic HTML — landmarks, headings, fieldsets and labels on all forms
- • Large touch targets and generous spacing throughout
How we test
During this pilot phase, testing is developer-led: manual keyboard navigation checks, browser accessibility inspector and contrast checks, and code review against WCAG 2.2 AA success criteria as features are built. We have not yet commissioned an independent accessibility audit or usability testing with disabled users — both are priorities as the pilot grows.
Reporting an accessibility problem
If you find something on this site that's hard to use, please tell us — accessibility feedback from real users matters more than anything we can test ourselves. Email hallatt@me.com with what you were trying to do, what happened, and if you're comfortable sharing it, what device, browser or assistive technology you were using. We read everything and will get back to you.

A note on compliance
We do not claim that Happy Days is fully WCAG 2.2 AA compliant, or that this statement satisfies any specific legal accessibility regime. This is a working statement for a pilot product, written and reviewed by the development team rather than an accessibility or legal professional. Independent accessibility auditing and legal review are planned but have not yet happened.
